Cambrian Groundwater Company

Two words sum up Bloomington, Indiana's environmental problem: PCBs and KARST.

Karst is a geological term used to classify areas with abundant sinkholes, caves, springs and sinking streams. Bloomington is in an area with abundant karst features, and all of our PCB sites rest on karst.

To help us understand the movement of water and PCBs around Bloomington's PCB sites, COPA hired a highly respected and exceptionally well qualified karst hydrologist: Gareth Davies. He examines the sites and the data produced by Westinghouse, and performs independent analyses.

He recently reviewed a landfill permit application submitted by Westinghouse, in which they attempt to disguise karst as something else.
