Illinois Central / Quarry Springs

Illinois Central Spring is located about 2,500 feet southeast of Lemon Lane Landfill. A large volume of flow and stormwater drainage from Lemon Lane discharges at Illinois Central. PCBs have been found in the sediment and water discharging from Illinois Central in concentrations as high as 1,400 parts per million (ppm). Citizens have complained for years that this area needs to be fenced and finally after many long years of debate a fence has been placed around the Illinois Central Spring discharge area. Unfortunately PCBs continue to flow out of Lemon Lane through several streams like Illinois Central and continue downstream contaminating the environment.

COPA received the following water flow charts from the U.S. EPA (6/15/98). The data was generated by CBS (Westinghouse). These charts are in pdf format.
