The Ending

And we lived...

Recently completed projects are:Neal's Dump, Neal's Landfill, Winston-Thomas Water Treatment Plant Fell's Iron and Metal, the Westinghouse plant, and the Monroe County Landfill have all were cleaned up by EPA orders several years ago. Lemon Lane is due to begin work next year, while the EPA is building a water treatment plant at the Illinois Central Springs, which CBS is refusing to pay for. It looks as if there will be a "hot spot" remediation at Lemon Lane with the majority of the PCBs being left in place with a cap, as happened at Neal's Landfill. The puplic comment period for Lemon Lane should happen soon, so stay tuned.

The end of this environmental tragedy is in sight, but we are just now beginning a meaningful excavation of the more than 2,000,000 pounds of PCBs dumped in Monroe and Owen Counties.

Stay tuned!
