Estimated total treatment costs for remediation of 10,000 to
20,000 tons of PCB-bearing soil are listed below. 

Thermal Desorption       $250-$450 per ton
Vitrification            $465 per ton
Chemical Decomposition   $210 per ton
Solvent Extraction       $200 to $300 per ton
Solidification           $30 to $50 per ton
Soil Washing             $300 per ton

Many factors could result in cost estimates being higher than
expected, including: low treatment objectives or high contaminant
concentrations, stringent monitoring requirements, permitting
costs, oil and grease, pH, high moisture content, high clay
content, disposal of the treatment residual, and other factors. 
Accurate cost estimates can be obtained following site
characterization and treatability testing.
