IC Springs Water Treatment Plant

  • Design is complete
  • Treatment building 80' x 230'
  • 50% extra room for possible expansion
  • 2 acre/ft storage capacity spec
  • 1000/gal/min treatment
  • 5000 gal/min into tanks
  • 2 storage tanks = 4 acre ft of water (twice the capacity of the speccifications)
  • Tanks are 60'd x32' ft. tall
  • 3.7" rain within 6 hours would surpass storage/treeatment capacity (25 year flood)
  • By pumping water through the water treatment plant, they may reduce the water flow at the Quarry Springs sites (A, B, & C)
  • Concerns from the public about Quarry Springs contamination and the need to post warning signs and construct fencing.
  • Generator to run plant during electical outages, runs for 24 hours before refueling.
  • Initial cost of plant=$2.2 million, new cost is $5-6 million
  • Will have to be stretched over 2 fiscal years.

Lemon Lane

  • Conduit Study continues
  • CBS is working on dye tracing study
  • EPA to do Treatability study
  • More water testing needed around Lemon Lane

Bennett's Dump

  • Sampling
  • Magnetometry study
  • Mid June beginning of remediation, with completion by fall of 1999
